i just noticed one of our baby's has a cloudy eye and fin on its right side. these are the best photos i could get. what is it and how can i treat it. they are in a 29g growout tank.

I wouldn't come to that conclusion without a bit more information/evidence. If the fish was breathing very fast, that would be an additional symptom and it could or couldn't but worth treating. If the fish was flashing and breathing very fast, I would say treat the fish immediately for Marine Velvet - Amyloodinium ocellatum.

Without more supporting symptoms, it's a bacterial infection, for now.

If the grow-out tank is bare then treat with an antibiotic if the fish doesn't have any other symptoms. If there are other more-or-less healthy fish in with it, then the antibiotic treatment will be okay with them in there, too.

Even though you're treating the fish, you need to find out why the fish has gotten a bacterial infection. Until you remove the cause, there is a chance that, even after a successful treatment, the fish will get infected again.

Look for an antibiotic that is listed for curing cloudy eye and/or fin rot. One such is Maracyn Two for Saltwater fishes. Follow treatment instructions on the medication. :)

thanks for the reply Lee

the fish looks much better. i think it must have just bumped its self. ill keep an eye on it and if it returns will treat right away. the only fish with it are its 7 siblings and this guy isn't at the top of the pecking order. it ate dinner just fine and is acting normal right now
