can anyone tell me how to tell the difference between a true perc and a false perc. I bought one a couple of months ago (the smaller one) from one lfs and the larger just recently from a second lfs. They get along great now but I want to try and avoid any future problems if I happen to have one of each. both where sold to me as false percs. I'll try to get them to ham up for a better pic after i post this. Thanks in advance

yeap they look like both are ocellaris to me .

look at the eyes,, if it black with black ring its ocs, and if it has orange around the black , its a perc

Color, amount or placement of black....none of that will do any good at all in ID. Count dorsal spines. Percs have 9 to 10, Occellaris have 11. That's about the only way to truly tell the difference between Occellaris and Percs.
