ive had a pair of maroon&gold clownfish for years i had to break down the tank to remove a bully chromis and somehow during this a strainer/cover on a powerhead came off and he got sucked in and died . my question do i get another and will the female accept it?

I don't know about the Maroon Anemonefish with regards to 'mating for life.' Maybe Eliot or someone else may know.

well this is what u do get the new male and put him in a box in the tank and then see if the female is aggresive ifso u might have to get another one. there is a more detailed version on this fourm somewhere go and look.

See if there's any information in here that might help you out.

Like Blind stated get a small one and chances are it's un sexed yet or is male. Put in the small specimen type container and put it in the tank for a while and see if the female shows any kind of aggression to it. It does wait a week or so and try it again. I don't think getting another fish is going to matter all that much. It might just take some time to get it mate up with another.
