We just reccently got a set of Onxy Clowns. Now we have our lights set to moon lights on all night. My question is my other fish even with the moon lights will go to sleep at night but.... our clowns will not. We have had them for two nights the first night the moon lights on like normal at night and they would not go to sleep. Last night we decided to try moon lights on for part of the night and.... they went to sleep. Do you think we should just get them used to the lights on or have a period of no lights in the tank at night?

Unfortunately, there is no set standard for what is truly a 'moon light.' It could be that the lights on the tank are too bright. Try turning some of them off or disconnecting them. I did that in my 300 gallon aquarium, making half of it almost totally dark and the other half with a bit of a glow to it.

The fish will rest as they need to, however they are used to never being in the true dark, and the light at night is very low.

These moonlights are off of the Outer Orbit and I do have to say they are bright. There is two sets blue and white. We have tried the white only, blue only and both and doesn't matter what they are set they are all bright lol. We may just have to have moonlights on till say 12-2 and then have them shut off after that.

Why not throw some mesh screen over your light lenses to limit the light output? I know I've considered it for my moon lights at times....

Well our clowns are hosting with the BTA now whoo hoo :) At the store they had been checking it out but last night they finally snuggled in. We did turned the light off again about 12 so I am thinking of setting up the timer to just shut the moon lights off at night for a few hours and then having them come back on before the T5's come back on so on from 8-12, off like 12-4 and moon lights back on from 4-8.
