My two clowns are getting real cozy under the leaves of a red mushroom but at night they (mushrooms) shrink in size to almost nothing from 3 inches across during "daylight". I figure if they are trying to spawn the closing of the mushrooms is a problem, that is, not the expected secure area they thought they had. Has anyone had this situation? I was wondering if I should put an anenome or would it matter.

It will not matter to the clowns from my experience. They will find a rock they like and spawn on it; then guard the eggs to some degree. Mine usually spawn pretty close to their anemone. The three stripe damsels i used to have would spawn right on the front glass.

Thanks Ray

I would like to hear more from anybody about anenomes. I have heard good and bad stories on their care. Most of my LFS
don't even carry them. I would like one just to add "movement", that is a swaying motion in the tank, realizing the clowns may never touch them.

John,
From the description of your tank I know of no anemone i would reccommend. They would all grow to large with what you have in the tank IMO.

yeah, even my LTA is starting to outgrow my 55 gallon. too bad they don't split and i'm too scared to take a razor blade to it. some roses split so they could fit into your tank but if they don't split they can easily get 12+" across.
