I have an empty 80g I'm thinking of converting to salt water. I know what I need in terms of sand, rocks, and lighting (I have a 4x65watt PC light for it), but I wouldn't know where to start for filtration. I dont want to drill it... someone once suggested a canister filter+powerhead+protein skimmer, but wanted to get advice from more than 1 hobbyist before I get anything going.

Thanks for your thoughts everyone!

Agree with Mike. Sump with skimmer is the way to go. Most here use natural filtration.

I agree on the skimmer and the sump as well. All that will be left is good husbandry and allowing your live rock to perform the biological filtration for you :)

Ill have to do some intesne reading on how to do that then! Im clueless. Its a project that might have to wait until I have more funds ;)
