Recently purchased a maxima and put him in the middle of my tank on some rock, which he has now anchored to and calls home. He moved a little and is really close to a colony of zoa's. When the zoa's grow out would there be a problem with them growing on the clam shell?

why dont u try moving the zoas if u cant move the clam...?or moving the rock where the clam is...just to be safe...if theres gonna be a problem later on,im sure the clam is gonna lose.:)

Moving the zoa's are not an option as they are on a big piece of rock. The clam has been moving around until I placed him in his current spot and he has set anchor there and looks very happy. So I'm not going to move him and run the chance of stressing him out further. Time will tell.

The clam should be fine. If it's healthy enough, it will prevent the zoas from growing over its mantle. I've seen the two coexist many times.
