I have a number of soft corals and fish that have been doing quite well for over a year. I recently added a calcium unit, with the hope of moving on to more complex corals and fish. Since the addition, the corals have not come out (3 days). Am, Ni, ph, water temp, salinity are all normal and calcium is steady at 450. Any ideas?

Welcome to reef frontiers mjs! My calcium was a bit high since I had sps before adding my softies. The softies didn't seem happy with such high calcium so I did a water change and it helped tremendously. You might want to try just a small water change to get the calcium down since the addition seemed to cause the problems.

Would it be possible for you to actually list all of your parameters instead of saying they are normal. It might be useful info in helping to identify the problem.

thanks for the input
temp 81, salt 1.025, ammonia 0, nitrate 10, ph 8.2, cal 450, phos .2

just thought of this, when putting the calcium reactor on I used a brass fitting, could it be the metal?

Although you you do need to get rid of the brass, I would take a look at your KH. KH need to be in balance with calcium. Are you measuring KH/alk?
