CPR Overflow Question!

I have a cpr overflow that's loud as hell! It sounds like when your nearing the bottom of a cup while slurping through a straw, very anoying. Anyone have any advice for me to help quiet this thing down?

When I ran my cpr overflow, eventually I just removed everything from the bulkhead (sponge, strainer etc) and that got it quiet. I didn't mind not having a prefilter sponge or anything there, but some people do.

^ I tried that too, and it just made the sound a different tone though. Sounded a little lower pitched to me, but it might have been a little quiter.

The gurgle buster thing is almost silent. I hear the sump water coming in more than I hear the gurgle buster.

also another big help if the sound is coming to the end of the hose... is the j pipe solution.
