Crabs are evil!

Ok, I am now a believer that crabs are evil!

After my experience with my sally lightfoot crab and her trying to eat my fish I swore I would never buy another crab of any type again.

Well 2 days ago I was in a local fish store buying supplies. I asked about would eat Bubble Algae and was told an Emerald Crab. I asked question after question and the guy swore that the crab wouldn't be aggressive and would only eat algae and other detrius. He said once the crab grew up it may become more aggressive but he promised it wouldn't eat my SPS or attack my fish. Guess what happened tonight? I go down to make sure my tank is still there as I always do at night! and here is the Emerald Crab climbed up onto one of my large SPS having a buffet. He's trying to pull the polyps out of the holes. So at 10:00 at night I just reach in and pull the rock out. He falls off onto the floor and tries to scurry away. Well he's in the sump now where he's going to stay till I find another use for him.

So the moral of the story is stay away from crabs!

Ive got a hungry puffer who would love to make short work of him if you are looking to take that sort of revenge.

Matt, that sucks, however, I'm glad you found out now. Rather now than trying to figure out what was eating your corals, or why they were going downhill.

I'll see if Witfull has anymore of his "Crabs are Evil" T-shirts. Wear them proudly

I too got rid of my emerald crab. Although he did eat my bubble algae he also tried to eat my toadstool. He's gone along with all my hermits. My hermits never seemed to do anything, but kill my snails and when that job was done they turned on each other. They're little terrorists. I think all crabs are opportunists and will eat what ever they can get their grubby little claws on.

LOL, I guess some of us have a common goal.......(TO TERMINATE ALL EVIL CRABs IN OUR TANK). I have lost few fishes and corals because of this STUPID crabs. Now, i just need to know how to catch them.....

My new mantis, Sugar, likes crabs. I don't know why all of you think they are evil. LOL
