So we just upgraded to a 360 g (build thread to come!) and in the rush to transfer all my critters to the new tank I lost one of my Fire shrimp.

Really. Lost.

It wasn't until I was cleaning up that I found the little guy on the floor next to the tank- completely dry and dead looking. He must have been out of water for at least 10 minutes and quite possibly longer. I reached to pick him and he moved slightly. So, as he held on to my finger, I carefully placed him on a rock and then watched him. In about 15 minutes he scuttled away to join his mate.

We got him in August of 2009 so I thought the combination of the trauma and his age meant he was a goner.

It has been over two weeks and he is back to normal - whatever that is for a shrimp.

Tough little bugger!

Very cool Jill, so much better than these stories/situations usually turn out. The transfer of my pair of Cleaner Shrimp didn't go quite as well, as soon as they were exposed the Flame Hawk couldn't help himself but to have Shrimp Dinner.... I will definitely have to get up to your and Barry's place to check this new system out sometime soon.

Cheers, Todd

Thanks all!

You know its funny about the shrimp because they used to be out and about all the time and cleaned everyone but once we got our new Majestic Angel (he is 6") the shrimp started to hid all the time and I don't see them clean anymore. This happened before we changed tanks.

Do you think that the Majestic is trying to eat them? I thought he would be invert safe.

Todd - bummer about your shrimp. Do all hawkfish eat shrimp? I have a small Falco Hawkfish.... do you think he could be the culprit?
You are welcome to see the setup anytime - just pm me - I would love it.
I'm just waiting for the cabinet to be finished and then I will post my thread.
