Sunlight Supply makes lots of lights that are appropriate for our reef tanks. The Tek5 T5HO fixture, is made by Sunlight Supply. What you need to watch out for, are the fixtures that Sunlight Supply makes for agricultural use, as in green houses. They are similar to their reef fixtures, but a bit different. The small differences are important.

For instance:

Sunlight Supply makes a 6X54watt T5 Tek Light, for agricultural use
http://www.specialty-lights.com/960105.html

Sunlight Supply also makes a 6X54 T5 Tek 5 fixture, for aquarium use
http://www.specialty-lights.com/960035.html

The major difference is that the "grow light" (Tek Light) has 1 cord and 1 switch. All 6 bulbs are on or off. The aquarium model (Tek5) has 2 cords and 2 switches, for a dusk to dawn effect.

The other difference, not mentioned, unless you specifically talk to them on the phone, which I did...lol....the "grow" light is made with regular hardware, while the aquarium fixture is made with more rust resistant hardware and some of the hardware is coated for rust resistance.

I can always count on you Sid! I did see that the "all-in-one" MH fixture w/ballast stated(in the ebay ad at least) that it can be used for aquarium usage. I am more interested in this option since it seems quite a bit cheaper and has the glass and ballast included. Plus it comes prepared for ventilation which is super convenient. I can find these all in one systems by Sunlight from 250w all the way to 1000w. I am hoping this is just a great system that is marketed to horticulture rather than aquarium usage; therefore demanding a lower price that I can take advantage of(since everything in our wonderful hobby costs a fortune). Also, all I would really need from a fixture like that is a off/on switch...and really only a power cord...
