Just curious, I didnt see an Ammonia spike (but I didnt test every day either) and now I Nitrate spike. I am making water for a water change now.

My question is, would the cycle be complete then. I have a lot of brown algae growth just in the last couple day.

Should I clean this off the rocks/walls/sand or leave it. (I am going to clean it off my hardware)

Depending on the travel time of your LR you may not experience a cycle just give it time 3-6wks and test a few times a wk to determine if your cycle has ran its course. How long has your tank been up and running? Brown alage on the sand? May be diatoms, which is a natural side effect of your cycle. Pix would help too.

Its only been up for about 4 weeks. . . There was no travel time on the rock. . Besides five minutes from the pet store. I added shrimp to decay.

I believe it is Diatom. . . I did some looking around.

what is your nitrate level (via a test kit)?

if you have a level of nitrate then by definition the cycle is complete.
do 30% water change using RODI water..an ammonia spike may occur, but add livestock slowly..operative word here...slowly....

Ya I just have a API test kit. I know its not the best but I do not know what is good to use (on a cheaper budget)

Was reading a 20 PPM Nitrate level.
