Hi I just bought a used 60gallon tank with bunch of accessories, including some nice large dead corals. I already have a 30g tank running w/ fish and LR.

So now I want to set up reef/fish tank in my 60g tank is there a benefit of putting dead corals along with LR? The dead corals a beautiful and I don't know if they will get populated like LR.
thanks:rolleyes:

ive found that if the dead coral is very branchy it becomes a big algae magnet. Seems my little crabs and snails get all confused or simply cant reach areas. It turns really green and brown and icky fast in a live rock tank. And takes a long time to get all purple, like a year or more if it does that at all. I usually just break that stuff up and use it to make zoo frags or turn it into big sand substrate where the sand is getting kicked up. Ive also put it in my calcium reactor and I have put it in my sump where I wanted algae to form.
