Well I am not sure what to do I purchased a setup this weekend when I got there the guy had all the live rock laying on a piece of plastic without any water for three days. I was very upset about it but on further inspection I was happy he had done this because there where tons of bristle worm and nuisance anemones. So my questions is what do I do with it now I believe I have to cure it but how do I go about this????

If this is your first tank I would just go ahead and set the tank up with the rock. If there was a lot of die off it will cure and cycle the tank by itself. Other option would be to let it air out for a few weeks then build the tank and cycle it with a shrimp etc. The second way you will have a better idea of what you are dealing with as far as NH3 etc. Just depends on how fast you plan on getting the tank going.

I have a 150 gallon setup right now but the tank I just bought is a 300 gallon so I would be combining everything eventually....

Depends on you then. If it was me I would set up the 300 with the dry rock and let it cycle. If it does not have enough to cycle you could always add a shrimp etc. After it is settled you could then add the 150 to it. That way you could pick your best rock out of the two tanks to display and use the other as base.

Well I would do that but unfortunately I don't have the room for both tanks....Anything else you might suggest???

I prefer dead, really dead rock. It does take longer to cycle but you dont have the pest to deal with. But I'm not the person that cares about the tube worms and things like that some are after.

Either cure it in the tank or in a garbage pail with a pump and a skimmer. Either way, there are proteins that will decompose and cycle

Not knowing the rock or the previous tank would make me nervous. I cured most of my current rock in a cycling barrel for nearly nine months before I put it in my tank...
