anyone have experience with a sea urchin to help control valonia...

I have little to no luck with emerald mithrax eating the stuff. Or Foxface rabbitfish.

Sea urchin may be my next step.

No such luck, my urchin wont touch them. I'm down to my last few bubbles. Took lots of daily rock blasting. I also keep ca up to get the coraline to encrust them quickly. They dont live long once covered with coraline.

I guess I'm lucky. I added an emerald crab and he cleaned me out! ALthough i do have to add he ripped apart my green/orange zoos cleaning in between them so that ticked me off.

Mithrax did it for me.... only one in a 100gal
Maybe you have a picky one.
I also have a blue tuxedo urchin and all I have seen him eat is Coralline algae, he can strip it clean from the live rock like it was never there.
