I will shortly be finishing my basement, (around my 120 gal fowlr aquarium). As with most basements, there is some moisture and i will need to run a dehumidifier. My thought is I could run a drain line from the collection bottle of the dehumidifier to my sump as a sort of automatic top off. I was curious about the contents (good and bad) of water obtained from moisture in the air. Maybe filter the collected water through carbon or something. ...Any thoughts?

eeks - no way..... dehumidifer's use copper tubing and definitely don't want that. just toss the water.

Yeah I would say a big negitive on that.
I know I wouldnt drink the water from a dehumidifier, and I promise I drink things, that I wouldnt put in my fish tank.

Creative thinking, and I like the closed loop idea with evaporation.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the previous posters, it would put things in the tank you would rather keep out.

I like the line of thinking though, good work.
