I just had to share the gloom..

Here are two pics. One before by GEORGOUS RBTA of 6 months climbed into a powerhead, and one after... I am not sure if she'll make it. She is splitting now (Go figure)

One of the causes, or so it seems for a rose bta or a bta to split is stress. Being sucked into a powerhead would cause stress, and in my opinion, would induce the splitting.

However, I would keep a close eye on it, as it is damaged, and the splitting will not make you able to feed it for some time. This is because their mouth will not be fully formed.

They are tough animals and with good water conditions and adequate lighting, the original anemone will live, along with its clone.

Thanks Elmo,

Actually I do have an update. The anenome moved around for 3 days and has found another place to it's liking. Even though it had already split 2 inches it no long shows any signs of any splitting... Several tenacles are growing back and I think in another 3 months she'll be back to her beautiful self.

it is! I have a love hate relationship with "Rose"... When she is out and healthy she mezmerizes me to sleep everytime I sit and stare at the tank... but when she isn't happy I'm not happy, and she makes all kinds of ugly "faces" at me to tell me how terrible I am ;)

hehehe A little anenome psycosis perhaps :)
