Hey Dang!

In my experience this is can all be due to differences in the originating and current environment. Despite being from the same original colony, or from diff colinies but the same coral genus; you may experience differences when the tanks they came from had different balances.

For example: If one frag goes from a High Light, "higher" dissolved nutrient, moderate flow tank it will likely have developed a high Zooaxanthella population to feed the coral relying less on the polyps filter feeding.

If another frag of the same original colony or genus came from a Medium light, low dissoved nutrient, high flow, highly fed tank the result could be a lower reliance on Zooxanthella utilizing the polyps more heavily for feeding.

Upon either coral entering your tank the balance will shift resulting potentiall in a diff growth or coloration rate.

I myself experienced a difference in growth rates of the same genus because one frag came from a high flow tank requiring it to grow thick sturday branches while the other was from lower flow and was thin. When entering my high energy tank the thinner branching coral spent allot of time "bulking up" while the other grw like gangbusters up and out.

That totally makes sense!
