I'm building a custom stand for my new cube aquarium.
I used Pine stair tread for the top deck, which is glued into place. The stair tread is nicely finished out of the box, and comes with bull nose. Not to mention that it's made to hold heavy weights.
We cut the Rabbits into the 2x4 frame to inset the 2x4 legs.
The lower shelf was made with 1x6 and dado cut to fit nicely around the front legs.
I still need to finish permanently mounting the lower shelf, as well as skim coat the entire thing for a smooth finish and then paint it.
As it stands today I put 800 pounds on it and it stands perfectly flat and level.
