do I need mh as well as pc

Just wondering, are atinics necessary in my aquarium as well as my mh? I have 2 x175 mh 20,000k over my 55 gallon and my pc atinics ballast went out. anyone know?? or are mh's fine.

MH are fine by themselves.

Generally I think having both is personal preference. Assuming your 55gal is of average depth your MH should be plenty.

you know my buddy just stuck both on his tank, and I have to go with the personal pref look way deeper and colorfull

I agree...Pc's are usually used for either supplemental lighting when used with MH's or for a dusk to dawn effect. You'll be fine without them if you don't want to replace the ballast
