I was checking out my frogspawn today when I noticed that 2 of it heads have this clear bubble that has formed between its mouths. The bubble is about the size of a quarter in diameter.

I am having problems with my salinity because up until a few days ago, I was relying on a hydrometer. I have been bringing it down slowly over the last 5 days and now have it to 1.027 (It was at 1.030).

My tank parameters are as follows

PH 8.2
ALK 3 mEq/L
Ammonia 0ppm
Nitrite 0ppm
Nitrates 10ppm

Could my salinity issues be causing this? If anyone knows what this and what I need to do to fix it, I would greatly appreciate it.

my guess it is growing new skeleton. But I am sure you will get more and better answers. I have some hammerhead that I am sure only had two skeletons with stuff attachached now I have three but they are just recovering and it has been at least 3 months (I have a sorta ghetto tank)
I really mean a very natural tank.
Don't do anything rash.

I beleive it is part of the process it goes through when splitting. If you look at the pic you can see the two florescent halfs (which is the split mouth) on the left and the right. Ive seen it before on my own frogspawn. I dont pay much attention to the details of it anymore. Its happy and grows like a weed. If you have good extention and good color still. You have no worries.

Yea, other than the bubble, everything looks good. The color looks good and I counted 16 new polyp heads growing out of it base.

Thanks to you both for easing my fears. The last thing I wanted was for my frogspawn that is doing so well to bite the dust.:)

I agree with trido. Looks like it is splitting.

I am glad to hear this as I have two hammer corals that get these bubbles all the time. I was concerned until I read this thread. I have beeen wanting to bring them into the lfs to trade but didn't want to bring them in if they were having a problem.
