I have read that dwarf flame angle has a min tank size of 30 gal. I was wondering if I could get away with putting it in a 26 gal tank. I love this fish, its so beautiful :)

Tom I put a pygmy angel also called cherub angel in a 29 gal tank. I think it was a bad idea, He acts like he has obbsesive compulsive dissorder now even in a 44 gal tank. He swims as fast as he can in and out of the live rock in figure eights on the same path over and over again. He only seems to stop when another fish is in the way or when its feeding time. It may work for you, I can only share my experince. I hope it helps you. Steve

i agree,
imo 30 gallons is too small even.
i've got a 72 bow, and that's about the smallest i would go.
i have had my flame angel for about a year, seems to be doing fine.
but with these fish being as active as they are, anything less just
seems too small.
live rock takes up a lot of free swimming space.

I agree. My flame angel is always on the go. He and the powder brown tang never stop - in and out and around the tank they go. I think a 26 gallon would be too small even if it was the only fish in the tank. My flame angel is always picking at the rock. You would need a large pile of rock to satisfy it.

If you want to put an angel in a tank that small then you should look into one of the pigmy angels such as the cherub. Flames need more room to be happy. Mine wanders all over my 100 gallon. Confinement stress can lead to compromised immune function making all the fish in the aquarium more suceptible to disease.
