Im getting to order a 20k Coralvue SE 400 watt, tomorrow.

Any comments, problems, or final say about this product?
Deciding this bulb against 20k XM...

Thank you.

WHy Coralvue Cesar? Just curious.

If I were to pick the two, I'd pick the XM's.

Let me know where you are ordering from , maybe I can order with you and split shipping. I need another XM10k.

Im ordering with Thamarindthai (Dang).

Why coralvue?... well i like the appearance... also i dont plan to supplemement it with actinics.

Here is XM20K...

and here is Coralvue20K...

and here is what im using right now... SunAquatics 10K

Also im using M59 and might not be able to go Hamilton 14K.
Also Im basing my decision from JB NY's 250 watt data on standard PFO... since we still dont have coralvuew data from Sanjay...

And also consistent with "Redeyereef" observations from his new Licor light meter...

The 400 XM20ks will turn whiter after burn in on standard M59 magnetic/coil ballast.

Where are you ordering from, and if you haven't ordered yet...let me know.

I was hoping for marinedepot but.... they dont have coralvue... so i might end up going to custom aquatics...

if you go with Custom Aquatics don't forget to use the 5% off coupon for Reef Frontiers. I don't think Marine Depot offers that. All my business has went to Custom Aquatics lately.

How do i use the 5%off... Marine depot has free shipping on 175 purchase... almost the same...

Cesar - just go to the Sponsors page and scoll down to Custom Aquatics and click on the link. It should add the Coupon automatically to your shopping cart. I don't remember what the code was....

probably should be able to get it by the next meeting at Dang's restaurant?

hm...what other places have you looked at? I know www.reefscience.com has XM bulbs for 55..for 250 watt...but shipping is horrible.

and what is growth like with the 20k's? quite a few threads/articles i've read say that with 20k's you'll notice a drop off in growth.

20K bulbs are too blue for me IMO. I've been told SPS growth rates do slow down, but that can be a good thing though. :)

Thats true.... but considering that I am coming from a 175 watt... that is still a big change...

Also, 20k is really blue thats why I am going Coralvue because its more white than the rest of the 20k's.... it looks 14k's...

About the growth... thats ok... I dont intend to make them really grow that fast...I want to figure out first why my corals are not the same colors where they came from and with comparison with other tanks... most of them are brown.... :( Also remember... a lot of people are already using 20k's...

Fragman is using 20k's on his frag tank with white pc's.
Salsaking I believe is using Coralvue 20k's. If you havent seen it in person, I highly recommend it...

Props is using Sunaquatic 14k's which is like Radiums and a lot dimmer than coralvue 20k's....
