Well...after many months of "meaning to get a camera", I finally got one. lol

Here are some pics of my setups and tanks. Everything is dirty...sorry....I just moved to a new house and got everything set back up.

It's 'bout time ;) I was getting a bit tired of seeing all your posts on GR without any pics :p Good work on the setups, looking forward to seeing them as they mature.

hey in the first set of pics are there NO overflows and just a pipe for the overflow ?
Nick

That is correct....

In the first set of pics, if you look at the second pic, you can see the pipe. It's in the right hand, back corner.

It's a 1.5" PVC plumbed through the wall into my sump.

do you have good surface agitation ? Also do you have an oily top ? Im wondering only because i have 2 overflows my 125g SPS tank that the LFS did for me and they did them from front to back instead of corners and i lost a foot and a half of my tank so i want to get rid of my overflows and keep just the durso standpipes

Right now, I have 3 JBJ 1800 powerheads going for surface aggitation. Soon, I'll have a closed loop, for surface aggitation.

The water's surface isnt oily.

The 1.5" PVC standpipe drain that I have, right now, will drain about 2000gph.

I've only had the standpipe running for about 3 weeks.

I had the 200 set up with an overflow box at my old place and figured since I was moving, I was getting rid of the box. So, I drilled the tank and let it sit for a few weeks, while I moved.

Once I moved in, I set everything up and plumbed through the wall, into my laundry room to the sump.

I have a 1200gph pump on the sump now...an upgrade from a 600gph pump I had and the standpipe works just great.

PLease let me know if you have any surface problwems i have a 125 that i had overflows put into each corner BUT.... they put the overflows nine inches in on each side and ran the overflows from front to back and now i have lost a foot and a half on my 6 foot tank and i hate it so i wanna get rid of the overflows like you have and just keep the durso pipes i have 2 tunze 6100's for my surface agitation which produce 3100 gph each out of them so i have plenty agitation there lol i need to know if itll work before i do it

That's stupid the way the installed your overflows. Especially since they put them 9" inside the back wall.

I'd tear out the overflow walls and just use standpipes for drains. I'm not sure how your overflow walls are put in though. Do you have an acrylic tank or a glass tank? If it's acrylic, there's probably no way to get the walls out without cutting them out because they'll be bonded to the rest of the tank. If your tank is glass, the walls are probably just siliconed in. If glass...I'd just empty the tank and take a razor blade and slice the silicone away and pull the walls out.

I didnt install acrylic around my drain pipe. I didnt want to install clear arcylic around it...cause what's the point? You'd still see the pipe. And, the cheapest I could find black acrylic was like $250 (cause I had to buy the whole sheet...they wouldnt cut it for me). I wanted it to work effciently...not look great, and hidden be away. I wanted to take as little room away as possible. The drain pipe is maybe 4" away from the back of the tank....and 4" away from the side of the tank. My fish can swim around it with no problems.

I dont think you'll have that oily film, at all. I have no problems with mine.

Thanks for the link...I'm always building things and modifying things on my tanks, using acrylic. Very cool site...and cheap too.

yeah a friend of mine sent it to me to help me out on my overflow problem since i have overflows already i can just stop my return pump and use the existing overflows as a wall to allow the new overflows to dry

Finally got my Banded Cat Shark to come out of his cave...still bad pics though. He swam from his cave, directly behind more rocks. lol

Also, got a few more good shots of my Moray.

Oh...and one close up of my month old Banded Cat Shark pup...
