We have a finger leather coral that has not polyped out in about 4 days. It has been in the tank and happy, growing rapidly for about 4-5 months. I took a full set of tests last night and the results are below. We have another rock with purple poci, anthilia and some gabbage corals that have receeded/died as well. It shouldn't be the parameters as you see below. Everything else in the tank is very healthy looking. We did have a Sea Hare die in the tank a few days ago after only being in there for about a week. We got it out as soon as we noticed it hadn't moved for a while but it might have been dead for a few days. Nothing had eaten on it though. What do you guys think? Could the Sea Hare dieing have caused all this or is there something else we should be looking at or for? Do leathers just do this occasionally and then come back? We are going to do another 15-20 gal water change this weekend.

Sg 1.025
dKH 10.0
PH 8.3
Ca 430
Mg 1300 (I raised this to 1400 over the last 24 hrs.)
Temp 79.1
Last water change was 2 weeks ago, 20% (15 gal)

Yes, they do this when they are growing...sorta like a snake shedding its skin...no polyp extension and you may see some white skin coming off it. this is completely normal.

I freaked out the first time this happend thought it was dead or my water
was off or something . but it finally polyped back out like 4 days later or so
. Its done it a few times since to just not as long . the first time it did it
i used a soft brisstle brush and "helped it shed" it seemed like it might have
helped but i havent done it since and it has been fine (even without my help )

At any given time, I have atleast one of my leathers doing a little down time in my tank.
If I noticed more than just a few, then my first reaction would be,, it's time to do a water change along with looking at the equipment to make sure nothing is malfunctioning.

Just an update... Everything returned to normal. Another case where posting on here fixes everything :). Thanks for all the input.
