need a fish or 2 for my new 40B... tank is bare bottomed, high flow (5k+ gph), over skimmed (kent nautilus skimmer and a tunze 9002), and sps dominated... right now the only fish are 2 chromis

i need something that will enjoy the flow, swim actively, be colorful, and not outgrow the tank anytime soon

some fish i have considered:

fairy wrasse of some sort
flasher wrasse of some sort
assessor
dottyback

thoughts?

this is my second one... i actually had upgraded to a 120 but now back in a 40... i love the footprint too plus all of my "marginal" equipment on the 120 is kickin butt on the smaller tank :D... i sure will miss my tangs though :( push comes to shove ill throw in a handful of assorted damsels and let them duke it out :D

Goby

I think that a goby of a sort might be ok but you might be better to get a tang, but the blue powder is expensive and notorious for getting ich. Not really sure what would work but definitely not the tang.......

no sand=no goby
no tangs... as much as i miss the tangs from my 120 i wont put one in this small of a tank... honestly, ill probably never have another tang in less than a 500-600g tank... they can "fit" in smaller tanks but i dont feel its fair long term to keep them in anything less... JMHO

im thinking ill get a blue assessor for color and movement, possibly a hawkfish for personality, and probably rebuild my chromis school (add 5 or 6 to the 2 i have now)
