Fish Only Resources

When I got into saltwater I went the distance.. I spent 6months with a 46 gal softy tank before going to a 280gal SPS high energy system.

Well a new potential project is starring me in the face and I need better resources.

Can folks refer me to solid online resources discussing the needs of set-up, maint, ect ect of large (Greater than 150gal) Fish only tanks.

Ummm.....how about Reef Frontiers? I hear they have a lot of knowledge there.

Seriously, I think you could really get some good responses on design/equipment for a big FO system. Do you have any idea of the species you would like to keep in it? Messy eaters? aggressive fish? For equipment, I really liked mojo's post in this thread: Upgrading Help (look at post #6). Ozone would allow for a less than adequate skimmer, if skimming cost is a concern for a tank that size.

It is 200gal IAP custom tank built for a local who ended up not being able to set-up the tank afterall. So I have a plan...

Looks like a great idea!!! You could always go back to the old standby books and get some ideas from them. I really do believe you are gonna want a good skimmer for it tho. I don't think you can go wrong with a skimmer. I'll also be interested with the type of fish you are going to put in!! A tank that size offers you a bunch of options. Look forward to hearing your ideas.

Thanks Charlie I have a skimmer if I need one. Actually it's the skimmer currently on my 280, but I'm not sure what kind of a dent it would put into a 200gal FO tank..

It's 36" Tall 6" diamter euro-style powered by a Sedra900 with Ozone..

I havent shopped my fish yet. I think I'll let my wife pick since I never let her get the fish SHE wants for the reef tank since most of the fish she like would make a lunch out of 80% of my tank

I know she likes puffers and Lion Fish. I'm sure she'd like a large angel of some form too..

After looking here on RF go check out ReefCentral.com it has a "Large Reef Tanks" forum and "Fish Only & Aggressive Tanks" forum.
