I have decided to try to eliminate the flatworms without using Flatworm Exit. I picked up a velvet nudibranch on Friday, and he is absolutely loving his new digs. When I brought it home, it was very skinny. Check him out now...

I am going to keep him until my flatworm problem is under control. After that I will try to find him a new home, since the flatworms are all that they eat.

I am also going to increase the flow in my tank and remove the sandbed from my tank. I also plan on upgrading my skimmer. I am still using the Berlin skimmer that came with the setup when I bought it. I am probably going to go with an ASM G3.

Jamie when he is looking hungry send him my way. Then when he has done his job here I will donate to another tank, he should turn into a monster worm eater !!!

Jamie,
That was great thinking, I hope he does well for you! I think they have pretty short lifespans, but if it's still around I'll take the next spot when Ken is done :D .

lol good luck Jamie :) .
from what i've heard they have very low grip, so don't increase your flow until he's out :p .
i hope he eats all your flatworms

Glad to hear you are making progress! Be sure to watch powerheads or other types of intakes, as you may lose your nudibranch before it gets transferred to another tank. Good Luck! Keep us updated!

WTG Jamie! Sounds like he is really working out great for you! Best of luck!

Susie,

From what I have read about them, the main reason that they don't live long is because they run out of food, since all they eat are flatworms. I think I have enough to keep him busy for a while. As soon as I start to see less of them, I am going to send him down the line. Barring a powerhead incident, I think he will do fine in my tank for at least a few weeks.

Can I be 3rd in line?

Seriously.

Siphoned out more worms last night. Woke up this morning to find the nudibranch on the glass at the top of the tank. I think he wandered into the flow from my Seio and it sent him for a ride. Kind of scary, it took me a few minutes to find him. I moved him back down on the rocks on the other side of the tank and he was fine. Tonight I am planning on moving the flow from the powerhead so that it is not hitting the rock directly.

you know if i was you, i think i'd turn off the powerhead at night (i know it sounds crazy) i think that would help him a little bit to move more around IMO :) .

That is a great idea. I might try that tonight. I will probably sleep a little better knowing he will not be going for a swim. :)
