I recently got off the phone with a friend that has been quite successful in the propagating corals. I know flow is very important. But I also learned corals respond to a dead time also. The Pro I talked to would have flow go one direction for a set time, then go to still time, then reverse flow. He said this mimicks natural water movement of Ocean. Ocean does not reverse flow imediately. This method is easier on corals. It gives them time to recuperate from one direction of flow.

I just wanted to pay it forward. :) Now I am looking for other controllers. ;)
Maybe I will have a use for my Light Wave.

I agree i see the same type of flow in my tank. I use oceans motion 8 way with hamerhead pump . when sitting and watching my tank i see dead periods and reversing flow thoughout my tank. My corals seem to be happy most of the time
