I'm pretty sure I need to up my flow in my 50 g. I have two 1200 MJs and two 600 MJs on a wave maker in there but I'm starting to get some algae problems. I went through a cyano period which is over but now I'm getting some hair. All my tests show zero trates, phos etc so I probably need to change my flow...I have two Tunze 6100 and controllers waiting to go into my 180 when I get off my dead a$$ and finish it. I was thinking about using the Tunzes in my 50 for now but still need that tank going when the 180 is up and going. Maybe I could leave the MJ's in the 50 unplugged...or put them back later when I get to that point....are the Tunzes going to be too much for the little tank or can I dial them down enough with the controller? Plus it would be a good opportunity to play with them. Hmmm what to do what to do.........

I'd use one, but everyone knows I'm sick when it comes to flow.:p I had almost 4,000 gph in a 38gal which was over 100x over rate and everything was happy:D

Flow is not your problem. Eliminate the algaes food source. I would question the results from your tests kits.

Flow is part of removing unused waste prior to it breaking down becomming food food for the algae.

Go for it Stan, you can always turn the tunze's down and get more mj's later for the 50.:)

I would use SEIO pumps, instead off TUNZE , or Hydor coralia http://www.meerwasser-aquaristik.de/shop/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1746.

Two SEIOS on a controller, would do very much od the flow for a 50 Gallon tank.I also think that your problem is extra nutrients in the tank.Good flow (and oxygenation) will solve the one half of the problem!!Check your phosphate removing media and carbon, and proceed with more water changes!!
