Who is keeping one of these and do they cause any problems? Any nipping, etc.? Has anyone used this fish to erradicate bubble algae? Is a 75 gallon big enough for this guy? Any other useful info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
-Reed

Hi Reed,

I have kept a couple of them. The one that I have now has been in my reef for 11 years. I suppose that you could find one that doesn’t behave, but IME they are as close to the perfect fish as you can find. They are peaceful, hardy, don’t cause any trouble and they are not fussy about what they will eat. I did have a bubble algae problem when I got my Foxface Lo and it took care of it. I had to remove all the big bubbles and the Foxface ate anything small or new. They don’t require a great deal of swimming space, but I think that a four foot long tank would be minimal for their comfort. Keep in mind that they do get fairly large and they like to eat (and produce a lot of bioload). Make sure it gets a wide variety of plant-based foods to go along with meaty sea foods.

Cheers,

Mine seems to have taken a liking to Zoanthids. He actually only likes certain colors and it wiped out most of the new ones that I got from the order, and starting eating existing ones too. They can't taste nice hehe. You can have mine if you want Reed :D

Thanks Terry! I feed a home made food that has a bit of nori in it, so the plant base would be there.

Tom, I don't think I want one with bad habits already. Thanks Bud! That's terrible that it's taking out your zoos. When mine grow out your welcome to come get some free of charge to replace yours.

Thanks man, now I am seriously thinking of getting rid of this fox face. My LFS has a healthy Chevron tang, and I may try to do a partial trade on it.
