Glue or Silicone?

Ok, thanks to the advice I received on RF, I got my acrylic yesterday from Kal Tech (GREAT folks to deal with BTW). After a few mistakes, I have what some may call an overflow cut and glued. My question is, do I glue this into the tank or silicone it? The back of my acrylic tank has a noticeable bow and I do not know how to compensate for this where the overflow meets the back of my aquarium.

Is the bow from lack of support or thickness of material when the tank is full, or is it meant to be like this? As for the silicone or glue I would think 100% silicone would work just fine as long as it cures/sets up for a good 48hrs before adding water.

Is a 180 Acrylic, 1/2 thick acrylic. Just happens after a tank has been filled. I am converting a used tank to reef.

Silicone won't stick to Acrylic. Neither will a lot of glues. There are special glues for Acrylic. Weldon is one of the most common.

Weldon is what I used to make the overflow, sounds like that is what I will use to put the overflow in the tank. Thank you for the info.

Hi, Place tank flat on its back first, take a tape and figure out the numbers first then make sure that all surfaces are clean and dry before you place the over flow boxes, look to see if all areas are makeing contact if not put something heavy on top before you lay down the weld on three or four let dry for 30 minites them apply weld on 16 over the areas where you put the weld on 3 or 4 . Thank you for the reply! I only have weld on 16 right now, will have to wait until Monday to get 3 or 4. There is a good 1/4 inch gap, so I will have to find something fairly heavy. Weld On will hold that strong?
