My wife and I are going on a cruise next month. It will be the first cruise for both of us. We are taking a Carnival cruise from Florida to Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Marteen.

Carnival has tons of shore excursions that you can purchase in advance of the cruise. We are having a hard time deciding what to do. There are quite a few. Are these shore excursions worth it?

For anyone that has gone on a cruise, what excursions did you do? Were they fun? What did you want to do that you didn't have time for?

Haven't been on a cruise.....so tagging along!

Yes, I think the excursions are worth it. My husband and I didn't decide what to do until after our cruize left port (it went from Venice Italy to Dubrovnik, then 4 stops in Greece, Epheseus Turkey, and Croatia, then back to Venice. Anyway the excursions we went on were cultural/historical, to ruins, museums, markets, etc. They were all good, some outstanding. We also went to one port in Greece on our own, and just shopped and ate. Plus 2 days at sea. I think variety is key...every day on an excursion would be too tiring. But doing them gives you the opportunity to go places it's too difficult to get to on your own within the alloted time in a port. Plus it's very low stress, logistics-wise.

If I were on a different type of cruise where the excursions were more nature oriented, I'd do those too. We both enjoyed them. Ours was a Holland America cruise, by the way...I don't know anything about the Carnival line.
