I found that one of the polyps on my candy cane is splitting, it has 2 mouths. My question is, I found that I can see alittle bit of white skeleton on the base. Is it just forming a new skeleton for the split?
good or bad?

It is new soft skeleton. Fragile skeleton.
I see the same thing happening when my torch coral decides to make another head by slowly splitting one of its head. It will slowly make the new 'head'. A slight tissue covers the new skeleton, but I know it is soft and fragile.
