Yesturdaty, I got a 5-6" Gigas, and I got two toadstools, a finger leather, and alot of anthelia (Thanks To colleen except the clam I got from kevinpo for $70)
and I got some weired mushrooms from saltwater city for free. I got the calxmax and the calcium test kit, so my alk is about 4.0-4.5 and my calcium is about 520ppm I dunno how the heck my calcium got to 520ppm when I dont even add any calcium!!!! I dont think this is a false test, the guy from saltwater city says he uses the seatest all the time, so I dont think it was a false test. So should I add alk, and when they are stable start dosing the two part additives? Everything I got looks great, especially the clam! :D The anthelia are still acclimating, and so is the toadstool, but the finger leather turned green, is this normal? Ill post pics tomorrow, Im alittle sleepy. Btw, nice meeting you all at the meeting!!!

Before you add anything from your tank... invest on some reef test kits. salifert is well known. Then report back to us of your readings. Then we can start from there...

Hey nice to meet you S-teen. Too bad not enough time to chat.

Well, the guys working at the saltwatercity store said that seatest are very accurate to, and they use nothing else.

I agree with Cesar. I use Salifert as well.

If your using Oceanic Salt mix that is about right if you do regular water changes and don't have a lot calcium consuming critters. The SeaTest kits will get you close. Not as close as most of us like, If thats what you have use it, wont last long anyways.

Everything looks good other than the anthelia colony colleen gave me, they are looking better but not all the way out, could they be acclimating still? It took like a week for my GSP to acclimate

Everthing is going to take a while to get used to its new home. You still need to take care of that ca and alk imbalance. Now that you've decided to start adding clams you'll need to keep a much better eye on the ca alk and ph.

Yea, I realized I had a low alk, and high cal so I added some alk buffer, which should get very close to evening the levels out so I can start using the two buffers

Hi S-teen, am not questioning the efficiency of saltwater's test kits. I agree that those are excellent.

But what im saying is when youre ready to add or balance your chemicals then you should test it again before you do it. Either you can go to saltwater's every time you test something, thats fine....

Bottomline is test before adding anything.

then go to the calculator so you know how much to add...

Have fun S-teen.... :D

So how about a picture of the entire tank? Glad to you see so excited about your tank and learning all about it. Keep taking good care of everything and Santa might leave you a blue ricordia for CHristmas!

Katchupoy, the calc doesnt make sense :( I have a cal level of 520, what do I do on the calc? It just says that if my cal is 520 then my alk is 4...
