This is in regards to using caulerpa in a sump. Let me give some quick background though before I start asking questions.

I had a 60 gallon tank, with a 125 gallon sump. The non-bio ball side was basically empty, and after doing a bit of reading, I put some grape caulerpa down there with a 20 watt subcompact. It grew like crazy, and I got the great idea to put a corse sponge around the pump intake(to keep it out of the tank) and I put all of it in a breeding net to keep it contained.

During my reading, I found that It was suggested that adding a macroalgae like this "sets" the water for many inverts and uses up the excess nitrate. Am I on track so far?

What I do know, is that coraline was everywhere adn thriving after only a month after putting on 2 40 watt bulbs over the tank in a standard home depot fixture.

now that I broke down that tank, I still have the grape caulerpa, and I really would like to use it again, but I have no sump for my 20 gallon, and I am not sure of the benifet it would have elsewhere. It it worth it to mess with this stuff?
