Green Algae

I'm getting a few spots of green in the last of my brown algae cycle. What should I do to get rid of the green algae?

I have it too, but I am not overwhelmed with it and I hear that new tanks all cycle thru these things. so I am just being patient and trying to stay on top of things

Sounds good, I just don't want to let something I shouldn't cycle through.

I did add some snails recently as well, I didnt have a big clean up crew

how many snails do you have and what kind?

I have just a few

bout a dozen dwart ceriths....new additions
3 turbos
2 nassarius
some unidentified hitchhiker snails

also have about 7 hermits

I was thinking about adding some more snails. Barrier Reef had a pretty good deal going on for clean up crews.

Depending on the size of your system I'd add a few each of astrea, nerite, nassarius & cerith snails all combined do a great job as cleaners of algae/diatoms and detritis. Side note: if your going to keep hermits crabs, larger ones will prey on the ceriths & nerites and to a lesser degree on the astrea & nassarius. I have had good luck in keeping just smaller Blue Leg Hermits (about 30 in my 75g) some have good luck with Scarlets.

blue leg and scarlet hermits is what I have some of, as well as a couple baby blue legged hermits???? name unknown, that where given to me.

Blues seem to be far more aggressive.

all hermits will kill a snail if they want to "test" a shell and they have yet to find one they like. when they have to upgrade they want to the best. they will also fight over shells
