Hello!

I am here in Sankt Petersburg about to celebrate the New Year! This their big celebration and their holiday begins today. They celebrate and are off from work until the eighth of January the day after the Russian orthodox Christmas.

We went shopping yesterday and I am sure you are all interested in the aquariums that they have here. We stopped in at one store yesterday just before they closed. They had what looked like the usual assortment of fish inverts, and goods but I did not see any acros. There were many soft corals and mushrooms but it seemed liked they had a limited understanding of nutrient export. The tanks were clean and well established with the usual assortment of fish and inverts for sale. The prices were about the same as in the states and it looked like most of the expensive lighting and equipment was from the same manufactures. I promise to send some pictures when they open on the eighth.

Hey Happy New Year Dan! Great pics so far. Have a great time.

fish in Russia!

We went shopping yesterday. There is more fish and sausages available here than red meat. One store had a tank with live sturgeon and freshwater carp. The salmon is the Atlantic variety and coming from Washington after growing up in Alaska this is new to me. That and they eat the bait! The sturgeon on ice in the last picture was actually alive and still moving its gills Can't get any fresher than that!

Aquatech in St. Petersburg

Hello,

I finally got to Aquatech in St. Petersburg after the holidays! The have a lot of softies and some really nice mushrooms but they don't have any Acros. The advanced hobby is very new here and they end up getting a lot of accounts that come from installations gone bad. Sound familiar? They seem to have all the same stuff with an emphasis on the German equipment for obvious reasons. The are in the process of installing a 4000 liter tank which is just beautiful. Nikolay and Irina are running the shop and I told them I would post the photos. aquatech.spbfish.ru
