halide for aquapod

So I found a 250w halide for my tank the question is, is this going to be way to much for my 24 gal aquapod? My tank has gone down hill since I set up the new tank and I think it is due to the fact my 10 gal had 2 32 watt bulbs and now my pod only has 2 26w bulbs
