Has anyone used CaribSea Arag-Alive Hawaiian Black

I replaced crushed coral with the Hawaiin Black, in a tank that I was maintaining for someone, at his insistence. It was horrible. Unfortunately, it's larger particle size than most of us like and since it's black, it shows detritus very well. It was only a few weeks old, when it began to look really "dirty."

So, we replaced that with the Indo Pacific Black, which is a mix of black/white, but more black. It didn't look as bad, actually looked okay, but still too large of particles and trapped detritus.

They both had a "sparkly" look to them...No, not like Edward....that made me think it had a large silicate or maybe Mica (sheet silicate) content.

I use the Indo Pacific. It's been a good mix of white and black with varied size, which i like and has worked well in my tank but its not a super fine oolitic sand if that's what your looking for. Barrier uses it in one of there displays as well if you want to see what it looks like.
