As some of you know, I took the day off to go spear fishing as today is open season for crawfish (crawfish look like lobsters and the legal size is a 6 inch tail which works out to be about 11 inch long crawfish not including the "whips") I don't eat crawfish, but enjoy the sport and give my share away to family and friends that do, but today was a day I wished I didn't go...
We left the dock 6 am and not after being in the water for 30 mins, I got stung in my neck by a jelly fish. It felt like I was electrocuted, but no real biggie because last year (same August 1st crawfishing trip) I jumped into a pack of baby man-o-wars that made quick work of me and had to go to the doctor and have an injection so the jelly fish sting was light stuff. Got stung in the stomach a few minutes later by another jelly fish, no biggie again. Then, it wasn't even an hour after that, I accidentally rubbed my arm across fire coral and I'm allergic to fire coral!!! I hoped I'd be alright, but I started vomiting about an hour or 2 after. I drank some Gatorade then some water an was still vomiting. I'm a "hard head" so I tried to force down some food, which helped some and figured, I'd go back spearing... After checking a few reefs, I went down to chase a fish and when I got to the bottom, both of my legs locked up in about 35ft of water! (This happened to me before from fire coral!!!) I never panic so I just relaxed and luckily had enough air to get me to the surface by just floating and using my arms. Got back on the boat for a while, it eased up and I figured I'd go back in! After a few dives down holding my breath for so long, nausea hit me again and I began vomiting again! 7 times! So they had to bring me in...The sad thing was we were an hour away from where we dock, so I had to be dropped off with one of the guys to a gated community which he lives in which was 10 minutes from where we were and walk 1/2 mile to his house so he could get me home. I can hardly walk or type right now from dehydration...Everything's spinning and now I'm just waiting for my doctor to get back in office to go there...
So that was my day so far! Hopefully I haven't dehydrated myself to badly, but we'll see what the doctor says:doubt:
