Well, it looks like I might not have even gone one week and I might have my first casualty. I received my small starfish, about an inch or two across, from a fellow reefer (Ed Hahn) last Sunday. I looked in my tank at the starfish today and I realized that almost one whole limb is missing and two other limbs are about half missing as well. I'm thinking it might be my two clownfish (Bonny and Clyde), about an inch or two in size, pecking at him. I haven't seen them pecking at him, but I have seen them showing an interest in him. Right now I currently have him underneath a plastic cup with holes poked through it to protect him. What can I do to protect poor Patrick (starfish)?

Sorry to hear that....:doubt: Maybe you can put him in another tank (quarentine if you have one) and allow him time to recover and also tme to figure out what may have happened. :)

Is there anything else in you tank that could have done this. I havent ever heard of clowns taking limbs off of star fish. But that definitaly doesnt imply that it cant happen. Is it possible that the star made some rock work shift and fall on his legs? Good luck and try to qt if you can like Krish suggested!

Well I woke up this morning and my starfish died. A good portion of the rest of his limbs/body ended up basically disentigrating in the water underneath the cup. I'm wondering if PH could have played a role in this, does anybody have any previous experience with this? Currently I only have the clowns and six snails.
