So I did things a bit out of the order that I really wanted too, but since I need to get my stuff sold thats just what had to happen. I sold all my live rock, and now my poor fishes are totally freaked. They are settling down a little bit but they still have me a bit worried as they are huddled in the corners of the tank making weird colors.

What should I do? I don't really want to go buy stuff to put in the tank, as I'm trying to sell it so buying more stuff for it is really the opposite of what I want to do. I found a few pieces ranging from golf ball to baseball size burried in the sand and in the sump that I stacked in a corner to give them some hidding room but its deffinetly not enough.

I had a chunk of 4" PVC sitting in my garage that I stuck in there, but they haven't taken to it yet.

I have some old rock from the tank that has been sitting out in the flower bed for the last 6 months. Would it be ok to stick that in there for a few days? Or will it be full of bacteria that will hurt my fish?

What about a stainless steel mixing bowl from the kitchen propped up against the wall, would that be ok to put in the tank or would the dish soap from washing it cause problems?

Ultimatley I really really hope to get the fish sold tomorrow or thursday but want to give them something for the time being.

Help me out with ideas.

If your going to sell them today or tomorrow I'd just try to give them space, or cover part of the tank so they can hide some just don't let the tank get too hot. I would not panic & keep putting things in the tank, just find them a home asap & don't panic! They should be ok!

I would leave them alone, too. If they aren't taking to the things you put in there, then they probably won't get adjusted to anything within the time frame you will be keeping them. By the time you sell (today or tomorrow)them, they wouldn't have adjusted to anything else, yet. The more you change what they currently have, then the more they have to re-adjust to.

Ok thanks guys. I was just a little spooked because they were all very agitated and on edge. The blue devils went to a solid black with spots in places, the blue-chromies turned dark dark green, and my trigger well I thought he was dead for a while but he must just have gone into a defense mode where because all he would do is move his eyes nothing else.

but i turned off all the lighting for the night, so it was pitch black in the room with the tank and let them be. This morning I flipped the light on and they all came out and started acting normal again.

had me worried there for a minute. :D
