Our Crocea clam was attached firmly on a ledge (for best lighting) and was doing well..til it inched closer and closer to the edge..we couldn't move it for it was attached and we didn't want to tear its byssal? Well sometime this morning it detached and fell..I can see frayed stuff on its old rock..

Its on its side in the sand..and attaching/attached to another rock..how can I get it upright? w/o hurting it??

Please help!!

If I was in your position I would slowly "peel him off". I have done it before and had no problems. However I don't know nearly as much about clams as some other folks here. Good Luck.

I may be wrong, have been before, and will be again. LOL
I try to avoid peeling with clams. The best method I have found for me, when it absolutely needed to move a clam, is a very sharp new clean not used razor blade. I cut the bysall threads just a close to the rock as I can. They usually reattach in just a few days.
Just my experince though, milage may vary.
Steve
