I did some quick searching but did not find any answers specifically for fish.... OK so my 26 gallon has a leak and in the urgency of things I bought a new 75g tank stand and new agronite sand from Pets Mart (No I don't want to hear about it) Anyways I am moving all of the live rock, sand and what not from the 26 to the 75. I am regretting getting the fine agronite but since its a FOWLR I thought it would look nice. My question is that I need to know will the major thick sand storm hurt the fish and the brittle star at all? I have been doing water exchasnges fromt he two tanks to slowly aclimate the newer water and older water over the past several hours. Any advice is appreciated!

what up mike... :)

well, you always want to rinse new sand with water until it runs clear, then put the wet sand in ziplocks,
drop to bottom of filled tank, and open ziplock slowly. this regime will get you the least amount of sand storm.
let me guess, this isnt what you did... :)

if you already did it wrong, and you have existing sandstorm, i would say a hob or cannister powerfilter with polyfiber and carbon.
leave your fish in a bucket or rubbermaid container with powerhead and heater until new tank has cleared some

Yes I am well aware of procedure but I let the leaking water on new carpet overide common sense and sanity... Of course I found out the leak was about 3/4 of the way down the tank so I could have taken time for proper procedures :-( That being said the bag said ok to not rinse so now /i just need to know if it will hurt the inhabitents until I can pick up a Big A$$ canister filter to clean up my mess???

well, it should b ok if the deed is already done, and the fish are in the water already...
they might breath hard for awhile until it clears some...
just make sure your parameters are all in check and dont change anything super fast,
give your critters time to adjust.

the fish are still in the old tank with just a heavy haze but nowhere near the new tanks level of cloudiness I guess i will leave them til i can get a filter in the morning. Thanks for the advice, I hope all is well with you?
