I have just started using a aquac remora pro on my 80 gallon tank. I can't get it to skim right it just skims clear water, I have had it running for a week now. It has the drain spout on it. I put the black band all the way down to the drain spot and I still get clear water. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

mine took a while to break in when I had the remora, make sure that the collection cup is high enough to skim, but low enough to allow skimmate to enter the cup.

make sure you have something to skim out of the water, youdo have rocks/fish in the tank right? .. sorry have to ask.

nananurse - are you adding any type of product to the water?

I found this from the user's manual:

Your skimmer will release a number of microbubbles back to the tank during its first week or so of operation. While it is breaking in it won't collect much foam, but it will create many microbubbles that escape back to the tank. This is completely normal and they should subside after 1-2 weeks. If you are using any water conditioners or stress coat is is normal for the skimmer to produce an excessive amount of foam. We recommend against the use of these products, especially during the break-in period as they can potentially overflow the skmmer collection cup in a very short amount of time.

I have probably 60 lbs of live rock, 8 fish. 8 corals 1 clam and numerous snails and hermit crabs. I have only added phytoplankton and coral accel. Maybe it just hasn't had time to kick in yet. Does anyone know anything about the stealth heater? My LFS told me they are under rated and the heater he sold me was for a 46 gallon and my tank is a 80 gallon, he didn't carry a 300 watt, which is probably what I need.

Just Curious What Kind Of Pump Are You Using I Had One On A 55 Gallon With A Mag 3 And It Only Acted Like This When I Added Amquel And After 1-2 Days It Calmed Down Good Luck :)

P.S. ON A 55 GALLON A 300 WATT EBO-JAGGER WOULD HAVE TOO BE PRESSED INTO THE SUBSTRATE I THINK 250 WATTS IS THE RIGHT SIZE CHECK THE HEIGHT OF YOUR TANK VERSUS THE LENGTH OF THE HEATER AND IF IT FITS NOT INTO THE SUBSTRATE AND BELOW WATER LINE PLUS ALLOWING FOR EVAPORATION THEN YES GO FOR A BIGGER ONE BUT ONLY IF IT WILL FIT
ALSO YOU MAY KNOW THIS BUT THATS SEEMS TOO LITTLE L.R. FOR YOUR TANK DONT KNOW THE CORALS TYPE ETC BUT MIGHT BE A PROBLEM DOWN THE ROAD IF YOU GO SPS LATER IF NOT NOW
