Hi,

For the last couple of weeks my tank has been suffering from high alk level which in turn lowered my calcium level to approx 350 ~ 360. I cannot give a specific number for my alk level because I didn't want to spend the extra $10 for a good alk tester (mine just gives me "low" "good" and "high").
Anyways, can anyone tell me what sort of consequences I may run into? and will this problem go away naturally or do i have to intervene? What solutions are there to fix this issue without major water change?

Thanks

Well your really going blind with out a decent kit. I would suggest getting that test kit before it really does casue some problems

good luck

one thing you can't do in this hobby is be cheap. it definitely pays to buy quality test kits and quality additives in this hobby. i'd buy salifert test kits for both your alk and your calcium.

you can always do quite a few small water changes to get everything back in balance.

Hi jase0723,

Without 2 known good quality test kits you are asking what is my alk. and calcium? You and your livestock deserve the best. Salifert test kits are very good for the money especially if bought online. :)
