How deep do you think X-mas tree worms burrow?

So I picked up an X-mas tree rock the other day... but the rock is pretty large, and too large for my 40 given everything else I have - Thinking about fragging off some of the excess rock to make it fit, but I've gotta avoid the worm tubes.

Anyone else tried this? Got any idea of their burrow depth?
