How is Aberdeen WA?

I was wondering what people's impression of the city of Aberdeen Wa?
My folks are thinking of purchasing a motel there and we've gone there several times, and parts of town seem pretty run down. But I don't know if the town is in a decline phase or its starting to pick itself back up.
I know the timber industry there took a big hit after the whole spotted owl thing. Well appreciate any thoughts from people.

I think it's still got a pretty low economy. It's not like it's found tourism or anything to replace the loss of the timber industry. Plus the weather is frequently greyer and wetter than other parts of the state. Personally, I always get a depressed feeling every time I pass through Aberdeen and I feel sorry for the people who live there. (No offense meant for any residents!)
